Meet Kate Kuehl: The Engineer Bridging Global Tech Talent

ree

At Silicon Savannah Solutions, our mission is clear: to connect world-class software talent in Kenya with global opportunities. Behind that mission is our founder, Kate Kuehl, a software engineer, recruiter, and entrepreneur who’s spent years living and working in Kenya, deeply embedded in the tech ecosystem.

Grounded in Experience, Built on Relationships

Kate lived in Kenya for over three years, forging connections across the country’s vibrant and fast-growing tech scene. She didn’t just visit, she got to work. From hosting local hackathons and meetups to running the popular Tech Events Kenya feed, she became a trusted name in the community. She also launched Mimi Si Roboti (Swahili for "I am not a Robot"), a grassroots nonprofit that helps junior Kenyan developers grow their skills, land their first jobs, and build confidence as they navigate the industry.

But her background isn’t just in community-building: she’s a seasoned software engineer with over six years of experience building products people love to use. Whether it’s writing Flutter code for environmental sensing hardware or leading remote product teams, she brings both technical expertise and deep empathy for what makes global collaboration work.

Built to Bridge the Gap: Why Kate Started Silicon Savannah Solutions

Too many U.S. startups struggle to find great talent and too many Kenyan developers are shut out of global opportunities because of things like lack of visibility and not knowing how to market themselves. Kate saw this mismatch firsthand and decided to change it. That’s why she founded Silicon Savannah Solutions: to do recruiting differently.

With her team, she leads a vetting process that goes deeper than just resumes, combining code reviews, real technical interviews, and cultural coaching on both sides to ensure that every match is set up for success.

“I saw firsthand the brilliance, drive, and integrity of Kenyan engineers. My job is to make sure the rest of the world sees it too.” — Kate Kuehl

More Than a Founder

Kate continues to split her time between hands-on engineering, mentoring rising tech talent, and advising global startups on how to build diverse, effective tech teams. She believes that the future of software is global: and that cross-cultural collaboration can be your greatest superpower.

If you’re looking to build a distributed team, partner with vetted developers in Kenya, or just want to connect over a love of code, she’d love to hear from you.

“Great Code Knows No Borders." - KK
